Commercial, Industrial, and Residential Septic Tank
& Grease Trap Pumpings

The most basic step in septic system care is to have the tank pumped on schedule. That's far more important than any magic additives, septic helper, or septic chemicals which usually are of little use and sometimes are downright harmful.

People normally seem to forget about their septic tank and drainfield until there are odors, slow drains, sewage backups, or sewage coming up in the yard - signs of a septic system problem. You can greatly extend the life of a septic system by taking care of it.

Maintaining your septic system protects your investment in your property. You are responsible for maintaining your septic system. From correct water usage to routine pumping, your system should work correctly for many years.

To prevent build-up, sludge and floating scum needs to be removed through periodic pumping of the septic tank. Regular inspections and pumping at least every 2 to 4 years are the best and cheapest ways to keep your septic system in good working order.

How often to pump out depends on your tank size, family size, and how much of your wastewater is solid waste. The number of people dumping wastewater down the drain makes a big difference in how often the tank needs pumping. So does the size of the tank.

The volume of solids in the wastewater varies with such things as garbage disposals, dirty clothes, where you live. A family with a garbage disposal (compared with one that scrapes the dishes into a trash can) dumps up to 50 % more solid wastes down the drain, and, therefore, needs to pump the septic tank twice as often.

Additives don't do any good-or, at least, no controlled scientific study has shown them to be effective. So, save your money.

The reason why they don't work is simple. Some of the waste solids are sand, grit, bits of plastic and other non-organic junk. This stuff has to be pumped out. No enzyme or bacteria can digest them. Other organic solids don't digest well so they accumulate.

So, why not call us to set up a regular maintenance schedule for your septic tank?
